Trapping in the Adirondacks, wood engraving by Winslow Homer
Ocala’s Appleton Museum of Art features “Winslow Homer in America” through Jan. 18, with 142 wood engravings by the celebrated 19th-century American artist. Homer’s illustrations, created in the heyday of magazine engraving, delighted readers of journals such as Harper’s Bazaar and Harper’s Weekly. One of the largest collections of Homer’s engravings, the exhibit covers his early years (1857-66) as well as the years following the Civil War (1867-87). Information: appletonmuseum.org
